Sailing Weekend in Southwick Basin

Here are some shaky video clips of a very successful weekend sailing in the Southwick Basin. We launched from Sussex Yacht Club on Friday morning before sailing down to Kingston beach for a period of free sailing before passing through the lock into the inner non tidal basin and going ashore for lunch.

The afternoon included a little shore side instruction followed by some on water exercises and races, thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Saturday was again in two on water sessions which was so good not to be constrained by the tide or having to sail against strong currents, fantastic!

On Sunday we returned through the lock for sailing off Kingston beach, and also out to sea, before heading up channel to return to SYC.

This was a very successful experiment in using the facilities at Southwick and sailing in non tidal water which we plan to repeat. We are working to improve facilities and to make it more accessible so that we can more easily accommodate our sailors at Southwick.
